Opening: Board Certified OBGYN physician
Location: Ft Irwin, CA Northeast from San Bernardino, CA. Ft. Irwin is quite a remote location but within driving distance of the LA area, Las Vegas, San Diego and various National Parks.
Start date: June 1, 2019 (based on time for background and credentialing)
End date: September 30, 2019
Hours: Schedule is M-F, daytime hours (730a-430p); however, it is based on the military’s needs. There is no call or overtime required on this contract.
Combination of Inpatient and Outpatient work. Will cover the Mother Baby Unit (MBU) and the OB/Gyn clinic, or elsewhere in the hospital as needed. They handle about 14 patients per day and about 15-20 deliveries per month. Normal appointments are 30 minutes and Thursdays are OR days, no scheduled appointments. There’s an average of 5 C-sections per month. The surgical procedures required are: C-section, operative vaginal deliveries, 3rd and 4th degree laceration repairs, Sterilization at the time of C-section, cesarean hysterectomy, ectopic pregnancy, hemorrhagic ovarian cyst surgical treatment, diagnostic laparoscopy, operative laparoscopy, Diagnostic laparotomy, D&C suction and fractional. Residents may shadow contract staff though there aren’t any currently assigned to the section. The closest NICU’s are at Loma Linda and Pomona Valley Hospitals, both about a 45 min helicopter ride or 2.5 hr drive.
Credentials: Requires Board Certification in OBGYN, at least 2 years of experience (training counts), US Citizenship, a clean background, any unrestricted state license, DEA, BLS, ACLS and NPR.
